For Sale: A handmade from scratch (and built to code) by me 5W tube guitar amplifier head. All tubes are brand new JJ's (5Y3S, 6V6S, 12AX7). This is my take on the Fender 5F2A Princeton which is essentially a 5F1 Champ with a tone control added. A few other extra modifications were included to sculpt your tone. On the rear panel there are two toggle switches to alter your tone. With both switches in the DOWN position the amp is set up to operate as a stock 5F2A. Flipping the left toggle switch changes from the standard Fender 22uf cathode bypass capacitor to a 0.68uf cap. This is the typical Marshall capacitor value. The stock 22uf value can make humbuckers sound a bit flabby in the lows. This lower value cap tightens up that low end. The 2nd switch is used to add a second 0.68uf cathode bypass capacitor across the 2nd cathode resistor. This is used to add a bit more Gain. There is a 3rd toggle switch that is just inside the rear panel screen. It's used to set the speaker impedance to 4Ω or 8Ω.
The price of $275 is firm. An amp like this in kit form would cost you around $500 depending on where you get it and then you would still have to assemble it. A full schematic of the amp and the modifications along with measured circuit voltages will be included.
You're welcome to bring your favorite axe and speaker cab to demo the amp. If you travel lite I have an open back 1x12 cab with a 12" 8Ω Eminence GA-SC64 "George Alessandro" signature speaker in it you're welcome to plug into. I'm usually here at home all day every day. E-mail any questions you might have. I don't do cell phones and texting.
If it's listed it's still available.
