Amorphophallus konjac plants, also known as Voodoo lilies for sale. Konjac is a beautiful, interesting, rare plant from Asia. It has a single large leaf, that can be up to 6' in diameter. The inflorescence can grows as large as 6' by 3' across. It has a korm that can weigh up to 60 pounds. It is one of the very few plants that can produce heat. Konjac can grow over a foot in an hour. The flower is pollinated by flies and has a bearable rotten meat odor, that lasts for a few hours. The bloom lasts for a couple of weeks.
In Ohio, it typically first blooms late Winter to early Spring, at 3 years of age. 3 year old flowers are around 30" tall, 4 year old flowers are around 48" tall. The flower gets larger every year, maxing out at well over 10' tall if well cared for. Once the flower dies, weeks later, in late Spring, a single large leaf sprouts and opens at an amazing pace. The leaf has fake lichen patterns on the stem to trick herbivores into believing it is old and not palatable.
Konjac dies back to the korm, after being exposed to frost a few times and once dormant, can be stored, dry, in a basement or garage. In Ohio, large korms, will typically overwinter well in the ground.
Konjac is currently being used in popular weight loss products, diabetes medication and food, such as flavored jelly packs and Shirataki noodles. Fibers from the konjac korm can hold over 200 times their weight in water.
I have 2 year old konjacs, currently in the dormant, korm stage, for sale for $20.00 each.
